Gratitude Matters

Being thankful is a matter of the heart,
For without it there’s really nowhere to start,
To appreciate all we have been given,
And experience the atmosphere of heaven…

For in God’s presence full joy abides,
Overwhelming the soul in jubilant tides,
All sorrow fades in His brilliant glory,
All words dim in the light of His story…

So how can we enter this place of peace?
What is the key to finding release?
How do we find what makes life worth living?
It all starts with a heart of thanksgiving…

Thanks for the blessings under the sun,
Thanks for refuge even while on the run,
Thanks for all that God has done,
Thanks for the Gift of Jesus the Son!

Thanks again for each new day,
Thanks for grace for the ‘come what may’,
Thanks for grace when there’s nothing to say,
Thanks for Jesus, the truth, the life, the way!

For you see it’s not what you’re thankful about,
It’s the priority of how praise will bring you out,
A heart that is grateful knows where to turn,
A heart that is grateful is open to learn…

Teach me Lord of the priority of praise.
Help me express thanks all of my days,
For when I do I’ll have a heart that stays,
Centered in You, reflecting Your ways!
