Celebrate Freedom!
"And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8:32
Happy Independence Day! We Americans have so much to celebrate related to the history of our nation! We rejoice in our liberation from tyranny and for the heritage of freedom!
But there is a freedom not tied to political or governmental status. This is the freedom Jesus promises that comes from the truth. The truth that God loved us enough to send His Son to die for our sins. See John 3:16-17
Our freedom from sin and its bondage is directly connected to our relationship with Jesus Christ. As we read in Romans 6:22: "But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves to God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life."
He who the Son sets free is free indeed! We celebrate His victory that is our victory!
John 8:36
But this precious freedom will be targeted. We must diligently walk in it. "Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage." Galatians 5:1
Yes, there's much to celebrate on this coming Fourth of July, recognizing our dependence on Jesus and rejoicing in our freedom from sin!
