Resemblance
"Beloved, now we are the children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is."  I John 3:2

We had the joy of seeing our youngest grandchildren when they visited us at Christmas. There's nothing like a two and three year old to bring a smile to your face!

But something else, besides their excitement and chatter, stood out.   I couldn't help but notice how much they looked like my son when he was their age.  The resemblance was striking.   Both of them reminded me of their father!

Scripture is clear, that believers in Jesus are "all children of God through faith".  Galatians 3:26
We are equally valued and beautifully diverse. We're intimately connected and intentionally designed.  We are children of God and therefore we are His image-bearers.

As His child, we are to reflect His character to others.  His resemblance is to be seen in us.  And what's even more incredible, the day will come when we will be "like Him, for we shall see Him as He is."

Who do you and I resemble?  Do people see Jesus in our words, actions, attitudes and priorities?  The good news is that, walking with Jesus allows us to become more like Him in our interactions with others. May the Father be seen in us His children, as we abide in Him!

As author John Blanchard said, "No man can prove he is a child of God without showing the family likeness."

Reflecting on His resemblance,
Pastor Rick Meyers
