“My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?” Psalm 22:1a
The Cross
It was the darkest day,
All hope seemed lost,
Jesus followed the Fathers’ way,
Giving His life, paid the cost!
Alone in agony and pain,
The skies turned black above,
His shed blood, my victory would gain,
His death defined the Fathers’ love!
There on the cross for you and me,
Jesus bore our sin and disease,
Looking back now we can see,
He was abandoned, the Father to appease!
No longer forsaken, no longer alone,
No longer broken, no longer bleeding,
Jesus lives and is on the Throne,
At the Fathers’ side interceding!
