Distracted or Devoted
"And Jesus answered and said to her, 'Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary (your sister) has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.'" Luke 10:41-42

Wanting to have everything go well, Martha became "distracted with much serving".
Her sister, on the other hand, sat at Jesus feet and "heard His word".  This agitated Martha and she sought to have Jesus tell Mary to help her. But He reminded Martha about the "good part" reflected in her sister's choice.

Anything that takes the place of our devotion to Jesus is a form of idolatry.   Whether it be worry or work; unforgiveness or unwillingness to rest; or misplaced priorities or even missed opportunities: distractions destroy the simplicity of worship.

Mary found her joy and peace by choosing to keep close to Jesus.  Listening to, learning from and loving Jesus make for the "good part" God intends for us.  By putting Him first, we can properly prioritize our lives so He can orchestrate an intentional relationship that brings Him glory.

Simplify to glorify!  Stay devoted so He's promoted!  When all is said and done, keep Jesus number one!
