Vulnerability
"Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self control." Proverbs 25:28

In ancient days, cities were surrounded by walls to protect against invasion.  The condition of those walls was directly correlated to the security of the residents.  Even a small opening or gap could create vulnerability for attack.

Likewise, without self control our lives are open to invasion, intrusion and insurgency.  The enemy longs to prey upon our vulnerabilities... places left unguarded; weaknesses un-defended; disappointments unresolved and spiritual resources underutilized, etc.

The Holy Spirit longs to empower us through His residency in our lives. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, self-control." (Galatians 5:22-23)

The Jesus in us, is greater than the enemy around us.  It is possible, with His help, to reside within the "secure walls" of self-control.  It is possible to make wise decisions, to have proper boundaries and to experience His peace even in times of testing.

We will always have some vulnerabilities, but in Christ we can be overcomers!
