Pastor's Pen 10.2.2022

"Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall be changed  - in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet shall sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed!"
I Corinthians 15:51-52

Change is coming!  Death is not the end but a doorway.  For the believer in Jesus Christ, one moment we are present on earth and the next we are present with the Lord. Our last breath in this world is followed by our next breath in paradise.

Death marks the departure of the saint from the world of pain and sorrow, and the entry into the reality of life eternal. Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.  And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. (John 11:25-26)

By believing in what Jesus did for us on the cross and receiving Him as our Savior, we can rest assured that death is not our end, but a passage from this life to the next. "For we walk by faith, not by sight.  We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord." (II Corinthians 5:7-8)

At the recent "Homegoing" of a precious saint, though saddened by the loss, I was reminded that they had been changed...from the mortal to immortality; from being weak to being whole; from living in Sun City to now residing in the Holy City!  And best of all, we will meet again when the trumpet sounds!

Beautiful Pastor Rick! I couldn’t get on to see the memorial, it wouldn’t let me in. Did they record it? Thanks
