"For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." II Peter 1:8
Everything we need to live the Christian life has been provided! This radical revelation is the foundation for effective faith. Peter reminds us in his letter to the church which was facing persecution, pressure and even exile, that God has us covered!
"His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through the knowledge of Him Who called us by His own glory and goodness." (II Peter 1:3) Therefore it's not about how strong we are, but how strong God is!
Since this is true, we can confidently expect to see evidence of His working in us on our journey with Jesus. A list of seven characteristics helps us to understand what His power in us looks like. Consider growing in: goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, mutual affection and love.
We don't earn God's favor by having these virtues, instead we demonstrate God's wisdom, ways and wonder by yielding to Him. Effective faith yields an effective life!
